Is Kim Kardashian gonna be on The Simpsons?

These great illustrations of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West as Simpsons characters by artist aleXsandro Palombo have been making the rounds. They’re based on some of the most bootylicious shots Kim has done, including her infamous white bathing suit selfie for a series called “Best Shots Ever.”

Unfortunately, these images do not mean that Kimye will be appearing on The Simpsons. Palombo has no connection to the Fox show, and these are purely done for art’s sake.

Adaeze Yobo slams football fans for criticizing Yobo's own goal

Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, who I think played well tonight, scored an own goal in the Nigeria vs France match. Some football fans, who felt some type of way about it, took their anger out on his wife, Adaeze Yobo, calling her out on social media.

Davido Wins Best African Act Award At 2014 BET Awards

Davido has claimed the award for Best International Act: African category at the 2014 BET Awards.

The Skelewu singer, who was nominated alongside African heavyweights like Sarkodie, Tiwa Savage & Mafikizolo, was handed the award at a pre-event taping before the ceremony holds tonight.

Davido posted a picture with his statuette on his social media accounts saying, “Thanks to all my fans!! WE WON @BETAwards BEST AFRICAN ACT 2014!! so happy!! Time to party!”

Daystar Christian Center Gives to the Needy

Home fellowship centers, commonly called Home Cells, of Daystar Christain Center, located in the Opebi Area came together on Sunday, 29th June 2014 to support residents of the Monkey Village community in Opebi, Lagos. The community generally lacks basic amenities like potable water, with many residents not having meaningful ways of earning a living. The Home Cells donated foodstuff, clothings, toys for the kids, insecticide-treated nets, amongst many other things. The residents were glad as they trooped out in their numbers to receive these gifts, with many being grateful to God and to the Church for this act of benevolence shown towards them. Pres. Jonathan condemns Bauchi bomb attack and mass killings in Kaduna

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan condemns Friday night's bombing in theBayan Gari area of Bauchi State and the recent mass killings in Southern Kaduna.

The President commiserates with all the families who lost loved ones in the heinous attacks and extends his heartfelt sympathies to all those who suffered injuries or lost their properties during the wanton assaults on Bauchi and Kaduna States.

President Jonathan reassures the people of Bauchi and Kaduna State that the Federal Government will continue to take all necessary action to apprehend the perpetrators of thedastardly attacks and restore the fullest possible  security to all parts of the country.

The President directs all relevant federal government agencies to continue to speedily make emergency medical and relief assistance available to all those who were either injured or displaced by recent bombings and attacks. 

He urges all Nigerians to give maximum support and cooperation to the Armed Forces and security agencies who continue to work incessantly to end the menace of insecurity in the country within the shortest possible time.

Chris Brown says NO to BET Reality Show

BET is going to have find some other singer for programming because Chris Brown is not interested in doing a reality show.

Yesterday, we reported that the network was thirsty for Breezy to do a series with them. BET even organized a focus group to see if black women would tune in for a show about Chris trying to maintain his sobriety.

Potential viewers seemed to be into the idea! That was great news for producers; all they needed was Chris’ approval. Before the network could put their results in a pitch to the pop star, though, Chris has shut the idea down.

When TMZ.com caught up with him and girlfriend Karrueche Tran, paparazzi asked if Chris would do a reality show. He promptly answered, “Nah, not for me.”

Big Brother Announces Auditions

The ninth edition of Africa’s biggest reality series Big Brother  Africa kicks off in September and already fans are asking…who will the new housemates be? Who will find their names and their faces gracing newspapers? Who will become the subject of drive time radio and just who will find themselves trending on all social media platforms?

Unlike previous years, this year’s entry process is slightly different as potential housemates are invited to come in their numbers for auditions in their respective country venues.

It's season 8 will be screened live 24/7 on DStv channels 197 and 198 while GOtv audiences will see highlights of the show, which begins on Sunday 7 September and is scheduled to run for 91 days. Big Brother Africa is produced by ENDEMOL SA.

Charly Boy halts Gov. Okorocha speech at his Father's Funeral

A funeral mass was held yesterday for the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, former Nigerian Supreme Court judge. 

However, according to reports, the service didn’t go too smoothly. Charles Oputa, a.k.a Charly Boy, the first son of the late Justice, allegedly prevented Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State from paying tribute to his father, Vanguard reports.

While Okorocha was giving his tribute speech, Charly Boy allegedly stopped him midway into the speech.

“He walked up angrily to the altar and snatched the microphone from the governor,” statesreports. 

The Bishop presiding over the event reportedly tried to intervene, however; Charles was irate and reportedly stated that he wouldn’t allow any politician to use his father’s burial to “score cheap political goals.”

The Governor and his entourage were said to have left the church service abruptly after the incident.

Sources reportedly revealed that Charly Boy’s actions stemmed from a recent statement by Government House, Owerri, to the effect that the Oputa family was given N20 million to help with burial arrangements. 

Sources however revealed that “the family never received a dime from either Okorocha or the state government, not to talk of the alleged N20 million said to have been made available to them.”

In the aftermath of the incident, Sam Onwuemodo, Senior Special Assistant,  to Governor Okorocha released the following statement (excerpts as reported by Vanguard):

“It is highly regrettable that the son of the late Justice, Mr Charles Emeka Oputa, aka, Charly Boy, threw caution to the wind and turned the church service into a political theatre that saw him acting or playing out the script he drafted in Abuja with some Imo politicians, who have remained cowed by the overwhelming popularity of Governor Rochas Okorocha…

We condemn that ugly incident and also wish to advise politicians from the state to stop heating up the polity over power since God is the giver of power. In 2015, God will decide who will be governor of Imo State and when God decides that, there is nothing anybody can do about it…”

The statement is also said to contain assertions that the Imo State government gave “a substantial financial input” into the burial.

Tiwa Savage VS The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company

Delectable artiste and rave of the moment, Tiwa Savage is a no-nonsense lady who doesn’t seem to spare anybody who angers her.

At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport last Monday, Saturday Beats watched how Tiwa descended on a member of staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company who she said was “rude” to her.

The Eminado crooner, looking chic in her black and white ensemble, was seen arguing and quarreling with the NAHCO staff and her action drew a little crowd.

The NAHCO lady was unfazed by Tiwa’s fame and didn’t allow her to intimidate her as she told the people around that she wasn’t rude to Tiwa.

“I was not rude to her. I only told her to go and board since she had checked in her luggage. I wonder how that could mean that I was rude to her,” Saturday Beats overheard the NAHCO staff saying.

Not giving the lady another look, Tiwa eventually entered the boarding gate alongside her colleagues.

Tiwa and some other Nigerian artistes, Saturday Beats gathered, were on their way to Mauritius on board an Emirate flight.

Recall that it was reported few months ago that the singer had an encounter with a policeman and she allegedly removed his beret from his head.

Luis Suarez returns home after being booted out of the World Cup

Luiz Suarez returned to his native home of Uruguay yesterday June 27th to a hero's welcome after being booted out of the World Cup and banned from all football for four-months for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. Not only were hundreds of fans at Montevideo airport to welcome him, waving banners of support, but the president of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, was also at the airport.

Meanwhile, Giorgio Chiellini is not happy about FIFA's decision to ban Suarez for four months for biting him, a decision Uruguay says they will contest.

On his official website, Chiellini criticized the punishment, calling it excessive. What he wrote below

"Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suárez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done. There only remains the anger and the disappointment about the match. My only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period. I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team-mates during the games because such a ban is really alienating for a player."

New Telegraph’s Managing Editor dies in Emab Plaza bomb blast

The Managing Editor (North) of the New Telegraph newspapers, Alhaji Suleiman Bisalla (pictured above) sadly was among the 21 people that died in yesterday's Emab Plaza bombing in Abuja.

Bisalla, 46, a native of Gindiri in Mangul LGA of Plateau State, had left the New Telegraph office in Abuja around 3.30pm to Emab Plaza to go and repair his phone. The bomb went off 30 minutes later.

His corpse was deposited at the Maitama General Hospital, where he and others killed in the blast were taken to. His younger brother, Mohammed, has confirmed his death.


Bisalla was a former Deputy Editor with the Daily Trust Newspaper in Abuja and joined the New Telegraph newspaper late last year. He was married with children. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

Explosion in Apapa, Lagos

On Wednesday night, two explosions occurred in Apapa, Lagos, leaving many injured and 4 people dead.

According to Punch who broke the news, the explosions occurred almost at the same time, the first at the entrance to the Folawiyo tank farm and the second inside the facility.

It is being alleged that two petrol tankers were the cause of the explosions. The trucks are said to have caught fire, and exploded later. The explosion inside the office was quickly put out.

Ngozi Braide, the Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Office said, “I learnt that a tanker carrying fuel burst into flames. The Divisional Police Officer of the area and other policemen are at the scene of the incident.”

Rasaq Fadipe who is the Director, State Fire Service, shut down reports that it was a suicide bomber, stating that it was a gas explosion.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Caught Snorting Cocaine?!?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been caught on camera snorting cocaine.

According to this tabloid - which also once alleged Gomez miscarried Bieber's baby - the stars were “secretly recorded” during a wild night of partying at 1Oak in Los Angeles recently, as video evidence exists of the pair "doing lines."

"The video is pretty dark and fuzzy, but someone’s trying to get paid for it," the magazine writes.

Since reuniting with Bieber two weeks ago, Selena has supposedly been smoking weed with Justin.

Moreover, the police were called to her home due to loud late-night partying just days after she and the singer went public with their reconciliation.

BN can confirm that the “Jara” co-host has joined other superstars as an ambassador for telecommunications company – Globacom.

Bomb blast hits Adamawa market

A bomb explosion has been reported at Kasuwan Kuturu market in Mubi Adamawa state.

 

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa said the bomb was targeted at a police patrol team but there were no casualties from the explosion.

 

This explosion comes three weeks after a similar bomb explosion rocked a football viewing center in Mubi Adamawa killing 14 people

Explosion at popular Emab Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2, Abuja, which happened just a few minutes ago around 4pm. Someone tweeted this pic above supposedly from the explosion. The explosion is said to have occurred at the gate of the very busy plaza and six people have been confirmed dead with at least 15 people injured...

Lupita Nyong’o’s first ad for Lancôme

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o's first ad for Lancôme has been released and the current World's Most Beautiful Person is perfection as she promotes Lancôme's Tient Idole Ultra 24H foundation (don't hate...hehe). 

She was announced as a spokesperson for the brand back in April, making her the 1st African woman to rep the French brand and the company said ads featuring her will start running in September but guess Lancôme couldn't wait till then. Absolutely stunning! Black has never looked better...:-)
